Re: Team for Fulham
Trundle - for weeks you've been peddling this ridiculous line about Cresswell and Masuaku playing the role of one player and it's utter, utter bollocks. It's unusual to have a CB getting forward as much as Cresswell does - maybe that's too much for you to get your head around. But the only truth in what you're saying is that they look like a unit, but that is not because they are two inadequate players doing the job of one. It's because the manager has devised a formula that brings out the best in both players and they are working VERY WELL TOGETHER. Gawd knows, we have all criticised both of them enough in the past for being inadequate left-backs in a back four. Almost every side has two players operating on each flank, and that is exactly what these two are doing really well on our left side. Fornals is generally playing further inside.

Lee Trundle 4:52 Mon Nov 2
Re: Team for Fulham
I think both are still currently a weakness. But I'd admit, we're currently better off playing both than just one of them.

They've both been at fault recently for goals, where a proper centre back and a proper left back wouldn't have given away.

Sorry that upsets you.

Bowen over-rated???

Fuck me. Heard it all now.

On MOTD last week Danny Murphy said that, aside from Antonio, Bowen was our key player for a number of reasons of which I won't even bother to explain.

Re: Team for Fulham
That is our main problem though isnt it.

We think that Fulham are shit so lets completely change how we have been playing to accommodate a winger no one wanted apart from Sullivan.

See Newcastle game for why we dont play that formation anymore even against the 'shitty' teams.

Dealcanvey We started the slowest player in the league on cam and Fornals left wing with only Cress supporting him from behind against Newcastle. Wouldn't compare that lineup to the ones being mentioned on here

Re: Team for Fulham
Fulham are struggling for goals although their build up play is decent. Will watch them tonight see how they shape up against WBA. I don't really think we can call any team "sh*t based on league position so early in the season.

The assumption we are going to win the next batch of games because we got points against the top 6 teams is IMHO a bit too simplistic. We should be able to have more possession but will we be able to open up the teams that do not take the game to us? We have been struggling with that for the last 5 seasons. And now without Antonio's physical presence we will have to find a way to get in behind defences. We have been effective in recent games due largely to being good on the counter. Wont be like that so much in these upcoming games and we might find it much harder than some expect. We shall see soon enough.

Haller will start I expect. I too think he is just too slow and not physical enough to cut it in the Premiership but would love to be wrong.

Moyes didn't want Bowen either, cause by your logic would have started him straight away, as you gave that as proof he didn't want Benrahma,.

SALTHOUSE being involved with the Benrahma transfer should tell you everything you need to know about who's target it was.

Saw highlights of Fulham at Sheffield and thought they were the better team
Lookman was dangerous but Mitrovic had an off day & missed a couple of chances you’d expect him to score incl a pen.
They were similar v Palace.
Poor at the back but created enough especially through Lookman.
With those two , LoftusCheek & Cairney they have a threat

Let’s see how they get on tonight.
Well I won’t as Fulham v WBA definitely isn’t worth £14.95 of anyone’s money

Do you mean at Sheffield United?

Yes
Were you confused by trying to think of the other Prem League teams that play in that city?
They are the only one

You’re welcome

I'm not completely changing anything, I'd play benrahma as the central forward

dealcanvey 6:56 Mon Nov 2
Re: Team for Fulham
Putting Benrahma as the lone forward suggests you just want to try and fit him in somewhere because he is the big summer signing.

That is probably something Sullivan has suggested to Moyes aswell.

"This is a big game for us."

Er, no it isn't you fucking dick. This game is about as insignificant as premier League games get.

Where do we get these fucking idiots?

Re: Team for Fulham
No-one has done anything wrong really to be dropped, bar Haller, BUT, he clearly struggles in the formation we have.

Maybe against Fulham a 4411 with Arthur ahead of Cresswell, and Fornals playing as close as possible behind Haller. You can even put Bowen as the number 10. My only concern would be if the usual defensive weaknesses are shown in a four at the back such as if Balbuena in a two can do ok.

The Fonz 9:37 Mon Nov 2
Re: Team for Fulham
I would go for the same team as the system works for us. Masuaku can act as a winger if we have a lot of the ball.

If after 60 its clear we need a change then bring on Yarma and Benrahma to add a bit of guile.

As long as we do not go into this thinking it will be an easy game then we will be alright.

Re: Team for Fulham
The 5 at the back with Masuaku pushing on and Cresswell covering when in possession has worked well so far, as negative as it may look on paper, and we shouldn't forget how we've done better than any of us expected post Newcastle just because of one loss away at Liverpool. The players for the most part (when not pinned back, which shouldn't be an issue against Fulham) look comfortable with the system and being well drilled has been the main cause of our decent results. So I wouldn't risk massively changing it at this point.

If we do want to make a change then I'd make it further up, in order to try to make the most of the dulled tool we have, ie Haller.

We could still play the 5 at the back, Rice and Soucek in the middle (which is the core of the current system) but get someone alongside Haller if we just tweak it from what is basically 5-4-1 (it's certainly not 3 up front) to 5-3-2 by dropping Fornals back and inside:

Fabianski

Masuaku
Cresswell
Ogbonna
Balbuena
Coufal

Rice
Fornals
Soucek

Haller
Bowen
